Hello, I am selling this painting that is 30 cm high by 38 cm wide. It is a superb oil on wood, signed at the bottom left CORAL, a French painter of the 20th century, probably active, judging by the limited information on his paintings and their styles, especially that of the other one I will talk about in a few lines, before 1950. On the back of the panel, there is a label with a number, indicating that it has probably passed through an auction house, and inscriptions providing additional details, both on the work, its creator, and the recognition he may have enjoyed in his lifetime: "Fontainebleau Walk in the forest by Coral Gold Medal". To this day, I have only managed to find one other of his works online, it depicts a young boy reading or drawing in front of the facade of his house (last photo, signature at the bottom right, also painted on wood). The child's clothing and the interior seem outdated, elements that made me think of a period of activity of the painter before 1950. One of the photos is a find on the internet for another painting, of which I know nothing about the appearance, which confirms that Coral was indeed a recipient of the gold medal; it reads: "Autumn Landscape by Coral Gold Medal Paris". The writing is almost the same as that used for my painting; could it be the painter's handwriting?

It highlights a bush, most of whose leaves have been covered with thick layers of paint, partly hidden in its own shadow, in the middle of what is therefore the Fontainebleau forest. It is crossed here by a river overflowing with movement into which the multiple reflections of the elements in the background are thrown: rocks, other bushes, in red/orange tones, a superb contrast with the yellow and green hues of the main element of the composition, trees as thin as matches. A multitude of white areas, revealing the contents of the veiled sky, also constitute as many elements airing the scene and are largely responsible for the level of reflection with which the painter decided on the different placements of the elements of his composition, an indication of a talented artist, both in his ideas and in the pictorial quality of their executions.

The panel is in superb condition and is perfectly flat and straight. It is worth noting, on the painting itself, very slight losses at the upper edge (in the form of three brown spots and a small hole), slight traces here and there of an old frame, and two small black dots at the top right, at the level of the tree trunks. Attention collectors, people attracted to vintage items, curiosities, decorative objects, or simply admirers of their intrinsic beauty! It's a great gift idea. All my shipments include insurance proportional to the value of the item. The shipment will be done with seriousness, unless you prefer a hand delivery, which is entirely possible if you make the trip.

If you have any questions or would like more photos, feel free to let me know.
