Despite a few slight cracks here and there, with no seriousness at all and which are a sign of an authentic painting, and a few traces of wear in places, the painting is in excellent overall condition; it could almost be described as remarkable. It appears to have been varnished, giving the soft visible effects depending on the viewing angle. The very beautiful frame, sturdily made and forming a highly successful combination with the artwork, is in good overall condition despite signs of wear and a few small losses.
A restoration mark near the lower right corner, quite well done, should be noted. The tension of the canvas, which has benefited from a very serious relining, is excellent. All of these observations point to care and treatment among the best that such works can receive. Please refer to the photos for an even more exhaustive description of the condition. Note that the cracks visible in the last two photos are not serious. It may be worth considering replacing this piece of wood in question (second-to-last photo), but given the excellent tension of the canvas, this is entirely secondary. The photos were taken on an afternoon in a very well-lit room, in natural light. The second and third are the most faithful to the actual color rendering under these conditions.
Please note, however, that computer or phone screens other than mine, depending on their display settings, may alter the results more or less. With these points in mind, you can nevertheless consider these two photos to be sufficiently representative of reality, under the same conditions described above. Hand delivery is entirely possible if you are willing to travel. IMPORTANT: The package includes insurance. For this to apply, if the box is damaged to a sufficient degree anywhere on it (it is up to you to determine this upon inspection) and/or opened, even partially, it is imperative that you ask the delivery person to note reservations if it is a postal shipment, or that you refuse the parcel at the relay point staff if it is a relay-point shipment, UNLESS, and you must ask them this, you have the option to enter reservations using the shipping label scanner device; in that case you may then accept the parcel before they scan the shipping slip or perform any other action confirming that you have collected the parcel.
In other words, be sure to check the condition of the box carefully, without omitting any area, in both cases before they act. In the case of delivery to a relay point, if you refuse receipt, the parcel will be kept by the relay point in order to be returned to the claims department, for verification aimed at establishing the responsibility of the delivery staff and making the insurance effective (information gathered from their website) in the event the item is damaged. In the case of postal delivery, if it is delivered to your mailbox because the package size allows it, without hand delivery, and the box is sufficiently damaged (the degree of which you must determine), you must take it unopened to the nearest post office and ask the staff at the counter to return the parcel to me (information gathered from their website), again in preparation for a review by the delivery service, UNLESS, as in the case of relay-point delivery, the postal staff can note reservations. In all cases, do not hesitate to take photos of the damaged and/or opened box. You may think, for whatever reason, that the item inside the box remains in perfect condition despite the package being damaged to a sufficient degree (which you must determine upon inspection) and/or opened, even partially, and therefore not ask to file reservations, or else accept the parcel if filing reservations is not possible; but be aware that this is like playing Russian roulette, since delivery services rely on the margin for error, which, incidentally, suits them very well because, I repeat, the insurance is then no longer effective due to damage, because of the sacred transfer of responsibility from the carrier to the sender or recipient; less expense for them, therefore, since they will not have to pay the insurance amount!
And do not rely on “shaking” the package to determine whether the item is broken; unless it is glass or ceramic, the sound of breakage is imperceptible, or it may simply be a protective element inside the package. Be sure to communicate all of these points if someone else is collecting the parcel on your behalf. If, however, the condition of the returned item differs from the condition it had when I sent it, but no proof can establish that the delivery staff are responsible, then there will be no refund, because even with excellent packaging it can happen not only that shocks during transport are extremely significant, but also that this occurs without external damage, meaning no damage to the box. These are things that may not have happened during the initial shipment, and that might have been avoided if the buyer had collected the parcel and thus prevented a second transport, theoretically involving twice as much risk for the item.If you have any questions or would like more photos, please feel free to let me know. PS: I also have other paintings on my profile.
