The god is depicted standing on stage, dressed only in fabric around his hips and ivy leaves placed on his hips and head, holding a chalice in one hand; his gaze is vacant and dazed. Behind him, a semi-reclining putto plays with ivy. All around, white clouds, just like the ground is white, with bursts of blue sky and a green bush that create the only contrasts.

On the back of the work appears the label "Mario Galli Collezione d'Arte," with catalog number 64 and the artist's autograph inscription. The work well represents the painting of this artist, born in Modena but artistically trained first in Rome and then in Florence, where he spent most of his life.

His rich production initially offers historical subjects, then portraits, and finally landscapes. His originality is recognized in his ability to transition from historical subjects, often set in the decor of ancient Pompeii, to the naturalism of the Macchiaioli of his second period, in which Muzzioli seeks a meaningful perception of atmosphere and light in subjects inspired by the Tuscan rural environment, often set in antiquity. In this work, a portrait of a mythological figure, the artist's luminist intention strongly comes through, the search for the effect of light playing on the naked bodies of the god and the putto, before fading into the background.

The label from the art gallery refers to the Florentine Mario Galli (1877 -1946), a sculptor who was also an important collector of works, especially by Macchiaioli. The work presents a significant crack and has been retouched. It is presented in an elegant frame. 19th Century / 1801 - 1900. Height: 87 Width: 63 Depth: 5.

A NEW LIFE FOR THINGS MORE VALUE FOR PEOPLE, SINCE 1999. The Di Mano in Mano work cooperative was founded in 1999 at the initiative of some members of the Villapizzone and Castellazzo communities, adopting their values and transposing them into the working world. The rules of Di Mano in Mano are based on respecting the life of each worker and their personal and family needs. Taking care of the environment, the territory, and the community that inhabits it, its history, art, and culture, its needs for job and training opportunities and its social fragilities: these values are the solid foundations on which we have built over the years a unique business model, faithful to this revolutionary idea of finding and putting into practice new ways to improve the quality of life. Equal pay proportional to the number of hours worked, the indivisibility of profits, which characterizes the working relationship of the partners from the beginning, confirms Di Mano in Mano's intention to continue to live in the spirit of sharing work, respecting individuals, and sobriety.

Our vision is to contribute to saving the planet through our work and to improve the world of work through our choices. Therefore, we will continue to pursue a sustainable economic model based on attention to people, their needs, and the world around us.
