Oil on canvas mounted on panel. Dimensions of the canvas alone: 45.5 x 43.5 cm. Framing: 57 x 54 cm. In 1901, he entered the Beaux-Arts in Toulouse where he received several distinctions, then continued his training in Paris in 1904. He was part of the Falguière and Mercié workshop from 1905 and also followed the teachings of Bourdelle and Rodin in their respective studios. After 1919, he settled in Paris, then stayed in Lisbon and began a long relationship with Carlotta Syder, whom he followed to Brazil in the 1950s. He split his life between Portugal and Brazil.
