He then went to Paris where he enrolled in the Fine Arts School and painted Parisian scenes and portraits. Back in Algiers, he became a student of Georges Roche and exhibited at the salon of the Algerian and Orientalist artists society, specializing in colorful landscapes. In 1911, he stayed in Bou-Saada with Maxime Noiré.
He became one of the founders of the independent artists society of North Africa in 1925. As a drawing and painting professor in Philippeville, he also painted many landscapes of southern Algeria.
