From 1919 to 1922, he started his own business in the devastated regions, then in 1922, he returned to Paris where he married Marguerite Boisset with whom he had two children. Throughout his professional life, he dedicated his free time to frequenting painting workshops, including the Grande Chaumière and Pierre-Gaston Rigaud's workshop. He exhibited from 1932 at the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon d'automne, and especially at the Salon des Artistes français. He participated in the Salon de la marine and the Salon comparaison. In 1936, he received an honorable mention at the Salon des Artistes français for Le Quai des laveuses à Moret, as well as the Prix Paul Liot and in 1942 a silver medal at the same salon.
In 1946, still at this Salon, he obtained the Gold Medal as well as the Corot Prize and the Rosa Bonheur Prize. In 1950, the year he fully dedicated himself to his art, he received the Morocco Prize, in 1960 that of Madagascar, and in 1969 that of Tunisia. Beyond these numerous awards, he also received scholarships which allowed him to work in the countries concerned in 1951 in Morocco, from December to Madagascar, and in 1969 in Tunisia. He died in Paris in 1978 after working until the end in fear of infirmity that would prevent him from expressing himself pictorially.Very good condition with signs of wear and tear, and 3 small chips visible.
