Translation: Ancient Tableau Oil Painting on Canvas Barbizon School Golden Wood Frame 19th Century

  
The frame was sold at the time by a framer from Brussels - the label is still present behind! It is a superb oil on canvas by the talented Joseph van Genegen, a Flemish painter born in Antwerp in 1857, the city where he died in 1936. He is believed to have created it between 1890 and 1910, signing it in the bottom left corner as Jos Van Genegen.
