Oil on canvas, finely painted, horizontally arranged, of great scale and impact. This painting depicts the Aldobrandini Wedding, an antique copy of the famous Roman fresco from the first century BC, rediscovered in 1605 on the Esquiline Hill and acquired two centuries ago by the Vatican (now on display in the Aldobrandini Hall of the Vatican Apostolic Library).

The bride is depicted at the center of the composition, with Venus at her side (on her left) and Hymen seated immediately beside her (on her right). On the sides, various figures are engaged in wedding preparations.

On the left, a veiled matron checks the water temperature (see photo). On the right, a young woman plays the harp while another, immediately nearby, burns perfume for the ceremony (see photo).
