One of the photos is a find on the internet for another painting, of which I know nothing about the appearance, confirming that Coral was indeed a gold medalist; it reads: "Autumn landscape by Coral Gold Medal Paris". The writing is almost the same as that used for my painting; could it be the painter's handwriting? It highlights a bush, most of whose leaves have been covered with layers of paint, partially hidden in its own shadow, in the middle of what is therefore the forest of Fontainebleau.
It is here crossed by a river overflowing with movements in which the multiple reflections of the elements in the background are thrown: rocks, other bushes, in red/orange tones, a superb contrast with the yellow and green shades of the main element of the composition, trees as thin as matches. A multitude of white areas, revealing the extent of the veiled sky, constitute many elements airing the scene and are largely responsible for the degree of reflection with which the painter decided on the different placements of the elements of his composition, an indication of a talented artist, both in his ideas and in the pictorial quality of their executions, rightly rewarded with a gold medal. The panel is in superb condition and is perfectly flat and straight. On the painting itself, very slight losses can be seen at the top edge (in the form of three brown spots and a small hole), light traces here and there of an old frame and two small black spots at the top right, at the level of the tree trunks. The fifth photo was taken in "temperate" light, in weather that was neither good nor bad; under these conditions, my camera is less effective, which explains the slight blur. This, like the first and second, offers a color rendering that is close to what can be seen in reality. The first photo, in particular, does justice to the real colors and appearance of the bush.
