Hello, I am selling this painting with a height of 40 cm and a length of 55 cm, not taking into account its magnificent golden frame, most likely from the same period as the painting. It has not been restored to preserve its lived experience and authenticity.

With the frame included, the dimensions are 60 cm by 73 cm. This is a superb oil on canvas by the talented Joseph van Genegen, a Flemish painter born in Antwerp in 1857 and died in 1936. It is believed to have been created between 1890 and 1910 and is signed in the bottom left corner "Jos Van Genegen.

" Having seen a good range of other landscapes by the artist, this painting is certainly one of his finest achievements, both in terms of its color contrasts and the light delivered by this marshy composition at dusk. It has an atmosphere remarkably faithful to what one might feel if they were actually in such a place at such a moment - melancholic in its beauty, with ochre tones in its vegetation, the delicacy of its trees, and a few birds flying over the expanse; comforting with the still azure blue of the sky, the rounded clouds, and the crimson horizon.

This immersion is further enhanced by the sophistication of the frame, which provides the ideal counterbalance to the purity of the artwork, creating a balance that respects its readability. The third photo is the one that most accurately represents the colors in full sunlight. Please note that there are some areas of missing paint, a few small stains, and cracks inherent to the passage of time on this canvas. The painting itself feels of very high quality to the touch, and there are some missing parts on the frame, one of which has been touched up because its color was too close to white.

There is also a crack on the upper left side and signs of wear, which, once again, do not detract from its wonderful ability to shine in the sunlight. However, the brightness may not be the same in different conditions due to the age of the frame. The frame was sold at the time by a framer from Brussels - the label is still present on the back! The painting does not perfectly fit the reserved space in the frame, so there are some slight gaps (illustrated in some photos), which are not necessarily more bothersome when viewed from several meters away. There is also a crack on the side of the upper left corner, but the surrounding elements remain securely attached, meaning there are no signs of imminent detachment.

Additional protection will be provided at this location in case of shipping. The wire on the back has been removed as it is unnecessary. Attention collectors, vintage enthusiasts, curio lovers, decoration enthusiasts, or those simply in awe of their intrinsic beauty! This would make an excellent gift.

The shipment will be done with care unless you prefer a personal pickup, which is entirely possible if you make the trip. If you have any questions or would like more photos, please feel free to let me know.
